In this special one-off event, we have invited radical architecture publication Matzine to take over the SIDESHOW space for a night of lively debate. Matzine’s editors have put together a line-up of expert contributors to debate the topic of regeneration and ‘meanwhile’ spaces. Join Matzine for a fun and thought-provoking evening, have your say, and be part of an innovative evolving publishing project. The debate and themes that spin off from it will go on to for the content for Matzine’s 14th issue. Read more about Matzine here.
You may have heard the buzzwords: ‘pop-up’, ‘meanwhile’, ‘transient’. What do the words mean? From temporary cinemas and community gardens, to retail mini cities of stacked containers, our cities have seen an influx of projects that make use of temporary spaces. Who do these short-term projects serve? Are they ever in the public benefit? Could we make better use of vacant spaces in the city? And what is left behind once they disappear?
